Do you have recitals and performances?
We have many community outreaches year round with the majority of them in September, December and May. When academy students are "performance ready" they are invited to participate. Historically our dancers perform 3-5 times per semester.
All students participate in our group recital. For the 2025-26 season, the group recital will be held Saturday May 9, 2025 at 4pm at the Grapevine Palace Arts Center. Our mandatory group picture and dress rehearsal will be held the evening before, May 8th at 6pm. Please mark your calendars and plan all family events around this recital as it is our group's largest event and our entire school year is focused on preparing for this event.
If you are interested in having us perform, please reach out via our HIRE US page.
I'm a returning student. Are we learning new dances this semester?
Yes! We will continue to practice our dances that we have previously learned (so we don't forget them) but every semester includes new dances and routines for all our classes.
I'm an adult wanting to join but I have never danced. Can I still join?
Our academy accepts students of ALL levels and ages from 3 through 103... and believe it or not, it's never too late to learn! New and intermediate students take courses under our academy and are generally placed in their class by age (not level). Students who have a passion for folklorico, can audition for our company teams where dancers are placed by dance level.
What is the difference between your academy and company team?
In our academy classes, dancers are placed by level:
-
Folklorico 1 for Young Child Beginner (Ages 3-5)
-
Folklorico 2 for Child Beginner (Ages 6-11)
-
Folklorico 3 Child Intermediate (by instructor placement only)
-
Adults (Beginner/Intermediate Level)
-
Active Adults Ages 50+
To participate in our Company Teams, dancers must audition. Auditions to the company teams are held once a year in late April/Early May. Dancers accepted into the company teams make a 1 year commitment to the company and must audition every year.
Can we do a trial class?
Please email us at balletfolkloricodfw@gmail.com to set up a trial class. If there is space in a class, dancers are welcomed to do a trial class. You'll be surprised how much you love it ;)
Are parents allowed in the class?
Parents are not allowed to sit in the classroom. We have found that dancers do their best when they do not have mom/dad watching them. If your child has never taken a dance class - yes! they probably will cry the first couple of times but don't worry. We have had many children overcome their separation anxiety and gain independence. It's part of the process and we love seeing our dancers grow in confidence. All that being said, there is a window that looks into the classroom which parents can peek into the class from.
Can I register after the semester has started?
We leave registration open for the first 2 weeks of every semester (assuming there is space in the class). After the 2 week window, registration is closed and you must wait until the next semester to join.
Can I hire you for a private event?
Yes! Please contact us via our HIRE US page
