Care of Studio- Owned Vestuario

Our vestuario collection represents a significant investment and is shared among many dancers throughout the year. Families are responsible for taking reasonable care of all studio-owned items while they are checked out. Additional charges may apply for lost, damaged, or unreturned vestuario or accessories. Detailed rental policies will be provided to you at the time of checkout.

Why our Vestuario is studio-owned

Our folklórico vestuario is an important part of the Ballet Folklorico DFW identity. Many of our pieces are handmade or specially selected to create a polished, cohesive look that represents our studio on stage. For this reason, Ballet Folklorico DFW maintains its own collection of performance vestuario rather than requiring families to purchase individual costumes.

Keeping our vestuario studio-owned allows us to:

  • Maintain a consistent look. Dancers performing together have coordinated vestuario with consistent colors, fabrics, trims, and styling.

  • Provide quality attire. Many folklórico pieces are handmade and cannot be easily exchanged or returned if sizing is incorrect.

  • Keep costs manageable for families. Authentic Mexican folklórico attire is handcrafted and costs several hundred dollars per outfit. Folklórico vestuario can be a significant investment, particularly as children grow or dancers perform multiple regions.  By maintaining a studio vestuario collection, Ballet Folklorico DFW allows dancers to perform in beautiful, authentic attire while keeping participation more affordable for families.

  • Properly maintain our collection. Studio-owned pieces can be professionally cleaned, repaired, altered, and prepared for future performances.

  • Protect our studio identity. Our performance vestuario is part of the recognizable Ballet Folklorico DFW look and is reserved for dancers representing our studio.

Because of this, studio-owned folklórico vestuario is not available for individual purchase and must be returned when requested. Dancers still purchase and keep their personal accessories, including shoes, earrings, bloomers, tights, leotards, hairpieces, and other individually assigned items.

Ballet/ Jazz Costume Attire

Ballet/Jazz students have the opportunity to perform throughout the year and may require different attire depending on the performance.

Holiday Performance

For our holiday performances, dancers are provided with a studio-owned holiday performance outfit.

A $20 cleaning fee per semester is due when the outfit is checked out. This fee helps cover professional cleaning and maintenance so the outfit remains in excellent condition for future dancers.

Additional Performances

For recitals and other performances, dancers will purchase their own performance costume to keep.

Performance attire typically ranges from $40–$80, depending on the costume selected for the performance. Families will be notified well in advance of any costume purchases, along with ordering deadlines and sizing information.

Dance Shoes & Accessories

Depending on the class and performance, dancers may also need to purchase dance shoes and other required accessories, such as tights or hair accessories. Specific requirements will be communicated before each performance season.

Care of Performance Attire

Studio-owned holiday attire should be treated with care while checked out. Families are responsible for returning all borrowed items in good condition. Additional charges may apply for lost, damaged, or unreturned items. Please refer to our Studio Policies for complete details.
